American manicure in Rezé: what to know before choosing
The American manicure, often called “gel X”, means bonding a pre-shaped gel tip over the whole surface of the nail. It has gained ground in recent years for its speed. Before looking for a salon offering it in Rezé, it is worth understanding what it changes — and what it does not.
What is the American manicure (gel X)?
Unlike sculpted gel on forms, where the nail is built to measure, the American manicure applies an already-shaped tip, bonded with a gel base cured under a UV or LED lamp. Advertised wear is 3 to 4 weeks.
Its main advantage is time: about an hour, against two to three hours for a sculpted set. In exchange, shape and length stay limited to the available tip sizes.
The steps of an American manicure
1. Preparing the natural nail: pushing back cuticles, dehydrating, lightly buffing the surface.
2. Choosing the size: the tip is selected, then adjusted to the width of each nail.
3. Bonding: a gel base is applied, the tip positioned, then the whole cured under the lamp.
4. Shaping and finishing: filing the length, shaping, top coat.
Removal is done by filing the top layer then dissolving — never by pulling the tip off.

To be clear: the American manicure, or gel X, is not on our menu. It is a technical choice, not a constraint — we work with sculpted gel on forms, where the nail is built to measure rather than covered with a pre-shaped tip.
What we do offer in Rezé: sculpted gel extensions at €55 in size S/M/L and €65 in XXL, and gel on natural nails at €35 (70 minutes) to strengthen without lengthening. Maintenance is done by infill, at €40 every 3 to 4 weeks. The full menu is on our services page.
Tip or form: how to choose?
The tip suits you if speed and a standard length are what matter most. The form suits you if you want a made-to-measure shape, a precise length, or a nail that follows your own morphology exactly.
As for nail health, it is not the application method that makes the difference, but the removal: keratin is damaged by pulling a tip off or over-filing.
